I’m Natalie, a cosmetic formulation chemist with a deep-rooted passion for both science and creativity. From an early age, I was driven by curiosity, constantly exploring how things work and breaking down processes step by step. I dreamed of careers in the arts, but my academic strengths ultimately led me toward math and science, beginning with a pre-med focus and aspirations of becoming an orthopedic surgeon.

During my early undergraduate years, I developed a genuine love for chemistry, but after interviewing with surgeons and gaining a clearer picture of the medical path, I recognized that the operating room was not where I wanted to spend my career. While considering a shift toward cosmetology, an advisor introduced me to the field of cosmetic chemistry. This was a perfect blend of my scientific strengths and creative interests. From that point on, the path was clear. I completed my Biochemistry degree at Weber State University in 2019, along with a minor in French.

As a senior, I was recruited into the university’s tutoring program, where I taught calculus and chemistry. This experience revealed how much I value education, mentorship, and the process of making complex concepts accessible to others. Before graduating, I joined the Society of Cosmetic Chemists as a student member and began building meaningful industry connections. These relationships helped me secure a role as a junior formulation chemist with a contract manufacturer. Cosmetic formulation quickly became a passion, and after two years, I was promoted to Laboratory Manager. In this role, I deepened my technical expertise, managed a growing team, and discovered the fulfillment that comes from mentoring other scientists.

About me

Young woman with blonde wavy hair, wearing a light-colored patterned blouse with a white collar and blue high-waisted pants, smiling at the camera.

Over the following years, I formulated for major leaders across oral care, skin care, and hair care. I collaborated closely with emerging brands, established companies, ingredient suppliers, and chemical specialists, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the product development ecosystem. Throughout these experiences, one need became increasingly clear: transparency, education, and intentional formulation are often overlooked in the beauty industry.

Today, as a consultant, I aim to bridge the gap between entrepreneurs and scientists. My strength lies in thinking beyond convention, and finding unique, science-backed solutions to formulation challenges that others overlook. Together, we can use chemistry to support your story, and create products you’re truly proud to share with the world.

Brand Vision

At Atomic Beauty Science we take brand identity seriously and strive to find unique and creative solutions to challenges. To highlight this, all photography, artwork and branding on our website was done in house, without the use of generative AI. We chose to use an Atomic theme to highlight the importance of studying the past, while pushing innovation forward.

The Atomic Age represents a moment in history marked by both profound anxiety and remarkable scientific progress. The same breakthroughs that unlocked new technologies also introduced the world to unprecedented risks. This era, like our present one, was defined by uncertainty, caution, and the realization that progress requires responsibility.

Progress without understanding can be dangerous. At Atomic Beauty, we value science that empowers rather than intimidates, and innovation grounded in knowledge rather than uncertainty.

Too often, creativity, innovation, and brand identity are sacrificed for convenience and speed. I believe every brand deserves formulas created with purpose, and products that reflect their unique vision rather than generic, recycled concepts. Brands are frequently asked to make decisions about their formulas, without fully understanding the changes being proposed, or the reason behind them. Miscommunication is common, largely due to the long chain of people that information needs to go through between formulator and client. My goal is to ensure that your brand receives clear, accurate, and transparent support so they can make informed decisions and bring products to market with confidence.
